Having performed on many world-renowned stages across the nation, the wildly popular spoken word duo Kinetic Affect has now planted roots in its hometown of Kalamazoo at the more intimate Whole Art Studio.

Recent recipients of the Kalamazoo Gazettes Readers choice awards for “Best Band/Performers”, Kirk Latimer and Gabriel Giron are excited to unveil their new monthly series Get Affected, which debuted in January and will feature its second run February 5-6 at 8PM. Kinetic Affect will feature and collaborate with a new artist, photographer, dancer, poet, musician, painter (you name it) every Friday and host an exciting open mic event the following Saturday. Both days will expose audience members to raw and new material by the talented duo who has been referred to as the “voice of their generation.”

Once competitors against each other on the Slam scene, Giron and Latimer soon joined forces to capitalize on their unique, creative and explosive dynamic. Both poets began as troubled youths and have faced life-changing experiences which have led them on the path of performance poetry and strong community involvement.

Striking a balance between their large theatrical productions and grittier bar scene performances, Get Affected is sure to be highly driven by audience participation and multi-media collaboration. The show will not only change the way you see poetry, but also change the way you look at the world.  So come out and Get Affected.
